Committee on Small Business to Hear Testimony on Addressing Y2K Crisis Waltham, MA - July 14, 1998
The hearing will be held at 11 a.m. in Room 2360 of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. Dr. Burgess, inventor of Millennium Solution’s unique and cost-effective math-based approach to searching and fixing Y2K bugs, will speak on the particular Year 2000 challenges facing small businesses. He will note that many industry studies indicate that small businesses have been slow to respond to the problem to date. “The Year 2000 bug does not make special allowances for small firms,” said Dr. Burgess, “ it will strike the small automotive parts supplier as well as General Motors; it will confuse the computer systems of the local savings bank as well as Chase Manhattan’s. But small firms face special problems. With generally fewer resources, and they often lack dedicated information technology departments with adequate manpower or funds to deal with the problem without disrupting the normal operation of the business.” Dr. Burgess will outline strategies small businesses can take to deal with the Year 2000 within their limited resources. He also will recommend government action to help small businesses deal with Y2K. About Data Integrity
