DATA INTEGRITY'S TraceIT COMMENCES PROJECT WITH TUFTS HEALTH PLAN TO HELP ACHIEVE HIPAA COMPLIANCE New Application Analysis Technology Eases Source Code Understanding WALTHAM, MASS.- Data Integrity's TraceIT began a project today with Tufts Health Plan, a Waltham, Mass. based managed health care organization, to use their application analysis technology as its core source code analysis tool to help achieve HIPAA (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliance. TraceIT is a major breakthrough for simplifying and speeding up a core HIPAA requirement: tracking down, identifying and assisting in bringing into compliance all HIPAA-sensitive code sets, data elements and transactions. TraceIT is the most powerful graphical code analysis tool on the market today. Via its patent pending Intelligent Parser, TraceIT breaks down every line of source code and organizes it in a relational database. Query results are graphically displayed, enabling users to gain understanding of communication flows within source modules, between source modules and data files and between source modules and database tables and fields. The result: users are liberated from the line-by-line view of code they are currently restricted to. With its unmatched ability to rapidly locate all permutations of programming elements within source code, TraceIT extends staff resources by allowing more programmers to quickly understand and contribute to HIPAA project work. "TraceIT helps us to achieve two of our HIPAA priorities: maintaining control of the project ourselves, and simplifying our work in reaching our compliance goals," says Tricia Trebino, senior vice president and chief information officer at Tufts Health Plan. The government's most comprehensive healthcare program since Medicare, HIPAA calls for common identifiers, shared code sets, increased levels of security and privacy, and new standard formats for electronic processing. These requirements will affect almost all systems and processes within health care and health plans. Current business policies and processes, systems and security practices must be reviewed and made compliant with the standards required by HIPAA. "Getting a firm grasp on source code is the key to gaining HIPAA compliance, and TraceIT is the key to understanding source code," said Allen G. Burgess, CEO, Data Integrity. "HIPAA project workers must track down all permutations of a code set or transaction - within a module and across modules, even if the code set changes names or other characteristics. This is important for both the Administration Simplification and privacy aspects of HIPAA. TraceIT provides a full, graphical view of applications, preventing any 'back door' or overlooked problems within source code that could pose potential security problems." Central to TraceIT is its unique, real-time application mapping capability that relationally profiles all application source code information in a simple graphical display and tabular report format. The tool provides unmatched impact analysis, allowing source code to be examined for dependencies across multiple modules and languages through a broad and drillable view of the system. TraceIT delivers the following benefits:
TraceIT creates and maintains a current profile, or diagram, of an application's source code. Users access this information through desktop PCs. By specifying an application, TraceIT displays all relevant information including module-to-module communication, calls made to databases or external files, variable usage throughout the application and more. Armed with this information, even programmers unfamiliar with an application can readily help with detailed analysis. TraceIT output can be used by other desktop applications such as ExcelTM, Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc. Tufts Health Plan, one of the country's largest health plans has received high marks for its quality from a variety of third parties, including CareData Reports, U.S News & World Report and Newsweek. Tufts Associated Health Maintenance Organization, Inc., Secure Horizons, Tufts Health Plan for Seniors and Total Health Plan, Inc. have been given Excellent NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) status. Data
Integrity has spent years developing software for the analysis of logic
and math inside of source code. Customers include Bank of America, Credit
Suisse First Boston, United Healthcare, Siemens Westinghouse, the U.S.
Air Force and Barnes and Noble. |
